E85 sales slump

I spotted this in today’s news. It is telling us that motorists are counting their pennies before fueling up.

“The U.S. ethanol industry has been staggered by high corn prices, low wholesale ethanol prices and the credit crunch. Major producers such as South Dakota-based VeraSun Energy Corp. went bankrupt.

Minnesota sales of E85 fell 52 percent from 1.84 million gallons in May 2008 to 879,000 gallons in this May, according to the most recent Minnesota Department of Revenue figures available. The dip in overall gasoline sales in that period was much smaller – down just 3 percent, to 192 million gallons.”

Kitchen Composter on the Cheap

My bride came into my office waving a “Green Catalog”. Next request was that “we must have a kitchen composter – Why this one even has an activated carbon filter and it is ONLY $185″

Call it cheap or practical. or maybe even having a minifarm in my past.

I yelled “stop!”. You will have the prototype of the FFT (my company) Vertical Composter.

Whoa she said; instant product development?

Yep. I went out to the garage and returned with a 5 gallon pail and lid and a 3 foot length of wood lathe. Actual cost to me zero. Others may have to buy a bucket – get an orange Home Depot variety.

Instructions: Place bucket outside kitchen door. Toss in compostable materials. Replace lid. Once a week stir with stick.

Dip into your office shredder and add some junk mail to add carbon to help offset the nitrogen in the food scraps. In few weeks dump contents in garden or flower beds. Never buy garden soil again.

FFT Fuel Saver Really works Great!

Hi Frank:

As a marketing representative and one of the founders of Energy Efficiency Done Right, energy efficiency, reducing energy consumption and gas milage is always a concern as I spend a lot of time in my van.

I was told about FFT Fuel Saver which was supposed to increase a vehicles mileage and we have all heard about those products or tried them and they didn’t work. If it sounds to good to be true it usually is and let me tell you I was proved wrong.

I first tried the FFT Fuel Saver in my wife’s car a 99 Concord it averaged 24 miles per gallon prior and I did not expect it to change but after she had gone through ¼ tank of gas her milage had increased to 27 miles per gallon.  Not bad but not spectacular however by the time she finished the tank of gas her milage had increased to 30 miles to the gallon. Even in town her milage has gone up.

This product, FFT Fuel Saver not only says it will increase your milage but does exactly that the 1999 Concord milage has improved by 25% on the highway and 20% in town.

Anyone that buys gas should be using FFT. Way to go!!

Sincerely,

Kelly Flaming

Increase gas mileage with hot air

Yes, just about everyone who has a car or has read blog posts, now knows that if you inflateyour tires right you get better mileage. Why President Obama is even quoted saying this. So now maybe I have made the required posted plattitude to get noticed. Just about every and any person can do this and post this.Do you really want better mileage?  Then just change the way that you drive. The most ‘expensive’ part of your drive is accelerating fron a stop. Your engine literally drinks a lot of fuel to get you and your car up to speed. Accelerate slowly, cruise conservatively and anticipate your stops. This will give you a quick 10% mileage increase. When I travel I’m never the first away from a red light; just about every car is roaring away and leaving me in their rearview mirror. They are all foolish and throwing their money out the window or better out their tailpipe.Frank sez “Take your time and save a dime (or more)”

E 10 Could Be Banned in Oregon

The ethanol complaints tend to come from Republicans, but three of the bills have Democratic supporters. The politicians said they’re hearing widespread complaints from voters.

Sen. Vicki Walker, D-Eugene, co-sponsored the bill that would eliminate the ethanol blend requirements. She testified Thursday, saying the ethanol blend reduced the mileage in her hybrid Toyota from 42 mpg to 36 mpg.

“I hate ethanol,” Walker told the committee. “We all voted for this thing (in 2007), and I’m not liking what’s happened.”

Heating Oil Prices Too High

With heating oil prices way too high, we are all stuck paying market prices.

the best way to save on heating oil is  not to use so many gallons. Our FFT Fuel-Saver is the product you hear about for your cars and truck but it also works in #2 heating oil and K1 kerosene. This week we did a private mailing to our customers and offered a free 16 oz bottle with a gallon purchase. A gallon bottle will treat the oil a typical family uses in a year with plenty left over.

Save on oil and use the rest of the gallon on your vehicles and save on gasoline. This link will take you directly to the sale site – the computer knows to send the free bottle even if it doesn’t say that on this page. Saving Energy the Best I Can

I am making a concerted attempt to save energy. After all I make and sell an energy-saving product, FFT Fuel-Saver.

But wait! This week I bought a propane fired instant hot water heater. I am close to making a decision on which pellet stove we’ll buy to help us get through the next winter. Whoooa! Hey Frank, I said to myself, "these products can’t even use FFT Fuel-Saver – What are you thinking?".

After a long pause I decide that its all about choices – especially good choices. I used about 750 gallons of heating oil to heat the house and the hot water. Last year I got a lock @ $2.42; this year it could be $4.84 a gallon or $3630.00 You’ve got to be kidding.

So the propane folks tell me that the 2 of us could use less than 300 gallons propane for a years hot water at about a bit less than $800. the pellet folks claim that 3 tons ought to heat the house and realitically supplement some oil on the coldest days. Pellets $900 or even $660 if I can get a deal for a ‘guy who knows a guy’. So I’m looking at arround $1700 in fuel for a year’s heat and hot water.

Am I going to spend less this year – not really. I still have to buy and install the pellet stove (I figure abut $1500) and I’ve got $900 into the water heater. So I’m over budget this year but I should be just fine next year.

So what about my oil? Well I’ve still got a half a tank. There’s my suplimental heating. The good news is that I probably will not buy any oil this heating season. I am cutting demand and maybe if enough folks do the same; oil prices will stabilize and maybe drop.

Best Fuel Saver

What’s the best fuel saver in the world?

It is us, yes, you, me and all the rest. With crude hitting $142.29 today $5 gasoine is getting closer than we want to admit. Supply vs. demand is the only thing we have going for us. We as a country need to save fuel and reduce our use of petroleum.

For our family that is park a car and use the one with best gas mileage. We share and combine trips. I’ve even built a cylinder deactivation box that lets me run our V6 on 3 cylinders on the turnpike. Our tires are inflated to max pressure and then a little more. We use the cruise control and watch air conditioner use.

We do alot of things to cut use and we add FFT Fuel-Saver to gas tank at each fill up. It gives us 4 to 6 more mpg. Yes, we do make the product. Yes, you can call and talk to the inventor. Yes we are a small company trying to make a big difference.

Drill for Oil in Maine…..NO!

But Mainers want us drill for oil everwhere we have it. A local TV host, Ray Richardson has opened a site to encourage our Congress-people to support drilling.
