Bush Defends War in Iraq, Gas Prices Going Up, and I Love My Bike
The New York Times reports on President Bush’s speech at the Pentagon in which he asserts the Iraq war, now five years old, has made “the world better and the United States safer” (quoting the article). Other important factors include increased demand in China and India, gasoline taxes, and the relatively small number of refineries in the U. Because the ride is so short, the money I save on the parking permit far outweighs the money I would spend on gasoline, and my wife has to drive the car anyway. I suspect that on a national level, bicycle commuters have a negligible effect on gasoline demand. read more
