Gas prices surge again to new highs – North County Times
Fuel prices hit new records in North County for a seventh straight week, putting new strains on drivers and trucking companies. The increase in gas prices has continued since mid-January but eased this week after oil prices fell back from record highs near $112 earlier this week. The nation’s inventories of finished gasoline have been rising for several weeks, Langley said, raising the possibility that pump prices may not increase significantly going into the traditional summer driving season. In North County last May, an average gallon of diesel cost 33 cents less than a gallon of regular unleaded, but it now costs 58 cents more, according to surveys by the consumer group. read more
