National Gas Price Average Soars To $3.07

Gas Price Average Reaches $3.07Â

Over the weekend, too, the [tag]national average price for unleaded gas[/tag] rose to $3.07 a gallon… besting August 2006’s record. And we haven’t even entered peak driving season yet.

A year ago this week, gas was $2.89. A peak gas-guzzling summer season, without any significant geopolitical or weather disasters, caused the national average to climb to $3.03. So… picture this: You live in a nice city, say San Francisco (where gas is already $3.45 on average). Throw in last year’s rise of at least 14 cents, a probable hurricane or other weather crisis… and…

“Four to five dollar gas is a total possibility,” our Maniac Trader tells us. “The days of cheap oil-based energies are OVER!”
