A report titled ‘Standard & Poor’s Raises Its Pricing Assumptions Used For Oil & Gas Company Ratings–Again,’ explains the rationale and limitations associated with the new pricing assumptions, which include 70 usd-per-barrel of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil in 2008, up from 55 usd previously. For 2009, S&P expects WTI at 60 usd a barrel, up from 50 usd; while in the longer-term it forecasts 45 usd, up from 40 usd.
