America is rich in oil supplies and now is the time to use it! When we increase our (and the world) supply the price of crude WILL go down. This is Economics 101; supply and demand.
Our elected officals have absolutely banned all oil exploration and production in the US. So why can the Chineese drill 50 miles off our coast in the Gulf of Mexico and US oil can not? Ask your Senator or your Representative.

Will Quebec be a gas, gas, gas? The Quebec shale play, which involves drilling for gas by fracturing dense rock, focuses on an area south of the St. Forest Oil said its Quebec assets may hold as much as four trillion cubic feet of gas reserves, and that the Utica shale has similar rock properties to the Barnett shale in Texas – the largest U. Quebec has been known to have natural gas reserves, but advanced horizontal drilling techniques and higher gas prices are now only making the play potentially economically viable, observers say. Forest Oil, which has several junior partners in the region, will drill three horizontal wells in Quebec this summer. read more

Even at current levels of oil prices, there seem to be no dearth of buyers- including countries like India and China- and of course, the US. Known oil and gas reserves may not last for more than another 50 years- and if production were to increase, even this time horizon could reduce. With the subsidy on diesel, petrol and cooking gas, what is happening is a forced redistribution (transfer) of wealth from the oil distribution companies to consumers. Both pay the same prices for fuel; for one, the rising prices makes a much bigger dent on his/her monthly budget than for the otehr. Another critical element of demand management for oil is the creation of quality mass transit infrastructure at adequate service levels. If people use their cars to get picked up and/or dropped, their cars will consume a good amount of fuel. read more

Yesterday the price of crude oil slipped by the $135 per barrel mark. Our Senators held another ‘witch hunt’ calling big oil’s leaders to task in front of their committee. They were told essentially – "Hey same as last time – We can’t help it" I know that they are right!
Our Congress has not allowed drilling in……… there are too many to list – Just say ANYWHERE. They have not allowed refinery construction – last one was in 1973.
Clearly Congress is not there to help us with our energy problems – yet they, I blieve, are totally responsible for this mess.
For now, for today, I am doing everything I can to increase my gas mileage. Putting off travel, combining trips, turning off my motor in traffic or lines, driving 55 mph on the turnpike, windows up and no A/C.
Everyone should do some of this – use less gas – we are NOT "sending a message" – Congress isn’t listening. the message is reduce, conserve and use less fuel – these are all things each of us can achieve.
There’s also a 5-speed red “great commuter car” 1996 Geo Metro hatchback in Fremont that would cost only $1,000 – but there is a catch. Jeevan Suhas of Campbell put his metallic blue 1996 Geo Metro sedan up for sale on Craigslist and then decided he’d rather keep it. Some consumers are turning to “crossover SUVs,” which are mounted on a car chassis and get slightly better mileage than mid-size SUVs, according to analysts at cars. With the average price of gasoline steadily marching to $4 a gallon, “used car sales are up and, overall, new car sales are way down,” Wiesenfelder said. Ron Popal, general manager of Sunnyvale Ford, sounding like a car dealer who is changing his pitch to fit the tough times, said car buying is “all about common sense now. read more
