There are golden features to be found in the 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid - Orlando Sentinel- Topic: Gas Mileage
Arguably the most complex, sophisticated vehicle General Motors has ever built for public consumption, the 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid sport ute — and its near-twin, the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid — shows what staid, stuck-in-the-mud GM can do when it puts its considerable resources to work. A comparable Yukon without the hybrid powertrain is rated at 14 mpg city, 20 mpg highway. Though the hybrid system adds about 400 pounds, GM has done a lot of work to offset that, with thinner, lighter seats (which remain as comfortable as always), making some parts from aluminum instead of steel, and even redesigning the nose of the Yukon to make it sleeker and more energy-efficient. It would be great if the Yukon Hybrid got 35 mpg, but that won’t happen without a major breakthrough in hybrid technology, which could be married to diesel engines. read more
